Summer issue
coming soon!
I am a lover and reader of magazines, zines, greeting cards, comic books, sticker pages, mail, and many other various print materials. Lately I have been asking myself the question: “If I had my own magazine, what would be in it?” I want to take that question further. I want to know how anyone and everyone interprets that question. Below is a description of a huge collaborative and free project.
I am going to use this blog to start a downloadable free magazine. Anyone and EVERYONE interested can contribute to this magazine. Make a list of your top 10 favorite websites to share. Write a review of your favorite restaurant with a picture. Write about your favorite childhood toy. Recommend new movies, music, art shows, or sports events etc. Send in a comic or zine. Draw pictures of your dog. Whatever is on your mind that you want to be heard/seen send it to this email:
sparklezillamagazine@gmail.com
I will organize all the information I receive into a quarterly magazine. I will then make it available for download from this blog. You can download it, read it, and delete it, or you can print it, make cheap copies and give it to people to read. Give it as a present. Leave it in random places to get new people involved. Print 1 or 2 nice copies and leave them in beauty salons and doctors offices. Here is your opportunity to share. Don’t think what you have to say or draw etc isn’t important. If you want to submit a drawing of your shoes -do it. If you want to write about what you ate for breakfast – do it. This is your magazine – what do you want in it?
Use a pen name or a real name.
If you would like to design a cover, or come up with magazine theme ideas please those email to the address above!
